to the scenes - sometimes grave, sometimes joyous and festive.
What shines through is the joy of these young Gazans, sharing their passion beyond the hermetic frontiers of the Gaza Strip, and their zest for life, raising high the colours of their Palestinian homeland.
Right from the beginning of the film, with its mingling of memorable scenes in Gaza and Martigues, Patrice Forget gives us an uncompromising documentary on the brutality of which Gazans are victims, and of the critical state of the Gaza Strip today. With respect and empathy, the film focusses on the courage and the energy of these young men despite their handicap, the war, and their disastrous living conditions.
These young men had to be amputed mostly because of the repression of the demonstrations for the "March Back Home", held every Friday at the border of the Gaza Strip to demand the return of the land from which the Gazans were driven off. The amputations are rendered inevitable due to the use of explosive bullets by the Israeli army.
Patrice Forget made an original documentary during a soccer match organized in Martigues in July 2019 between the team of Palestinian amputees from Gaza and the French team of amputees. He shares the lives of young Gazans and films them for 4 days during training, rest, picnics at the beach, evenings with songs…
